Donald Joseph Kilcoyne was born on July 30, 1916 in Martindale, Outaouais Region, Quebec, Canada. He was the son of Anthony Joseph Kilcoyne and Elizabeth McLaughlin Kilcoyne. Donald served in the US Air Corps as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. He died on April 2, 1945 in India at the age of 28 and is now buried in the Long Island National Cemetery, East Farmingdale, Suffolk County, New York, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
