Frank J. Leimer was born on February 1, 1916 in Galveston, Galveston County, Texas. He was graduated from Ball High School and before entering the service almost three years ago was associated with his father in the dairy business.

Sgt. Leimer joined the Army on July 20, 1941. He served in the US Air Corps as a Technical Sergeant during World War II. He was killed in action 150 miles south of Hengyang, China, on Jan. 26, 1944, while serving as aerial engineer on a bomber which failed to return from a bombing mission. He is now buried in the Galveston Memorial Park, Hitchcock, Galveston County, Texas, USA.

Sgt. Leimer was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
