Oneal R. Linford was born on March 22, 1920 in Idaho. He resided in Bear Lake County, Idaho prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army on May 20, 1942 in Pocatello, Idaho. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Farm Hand and also as Single, without dependents. Oneal served as a Technical Sergeant on B-24D (#42-40930), 425th Bomber Squadron, 308th Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

Oneal was "Killed In Action" when his B-24 was shot down and crashed in China during the war. He was awarded the Air Medal and the Purple Heart. The entire crew of 10 were lost on this mission. He is now buried in the Saint Charles Cemetery, Saint Charles, Bear Lake County, Idaho, USA.

He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
