Robert Laing Little was born on November 20, 1916 in Spokane, Spokane County, Washington. He served in the American Volunteer Group as a Flight Leader during World War II. He died on May 22, 1942 at the age of 25 in China but his current burial place is unknown. Robert was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
