James B. Lynch was born on August 24, 1919 and was graduated from Public School 123 and Grover Cleveland High School. Before he enlisted in February 1943, he was employed by the Bendix Corporation in Brooklyn. He received his wings at George Field, Ill. on August 4, 1944.
James served in the US Air Corps as a Second Lieutenant and Co-Pilot of an aircraft C-24 plane during World War II. He has been flying war supplies over the "Hump" on the India-Burma-China run. He was Killed in Action on June 15, 1945 at the age of 25 over India and is now buried in the Long Island National Cemetery, East Farmingdale, Suffolk County, New York, USA.
James was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
