Lacy Fleming Mangleburg was born on July 11, 1917 in Clarke County, Georgia. He was the son of Grover T. Mangleburg and Hellen Fleming Lacy Mangleburg. He served in the US Air Corps as a Lieutenant and Wingman of an aircraft during World War II. Lacy died on December 24, 1941 at the age of 24 in China and is now buried in the Oconee Hill Cemetery, Athens, Clarke County, Georgia, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
