Charles C. Marmorine, Jr. was born on February 19, 1922. He was the son of Charles Marmorine and Marie Louise Marmorine. he served in the 27th Troop Carrier Squadron as a First Lieutenant during World War II. Charles died on September 27, 1945 at the age of 23 and is now buried in the Samhold Lutheran Cemetery, Gonvick, Clearwater County, Minnesota, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
