Archie E. McDonald was born on June 4, 1924. He was the son of Archie Donald McDonald and Marion M. Sullivan McDonald. He served in the US Air Corps as a First Lieutenant and Pilot of an aircraft during World War II. Archie died on July 9, 1945 at the age of 21 and is now buried in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Lincoln County, Nebraska, USA in a common grave with 1Lt. David Robinson. He also has a marker located in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
