Kenneth Taylor Merritt was born on July 26, 1918 in Harrison County, Texas. He was the son of Matthias Taylor Merritt and May Malone Williams Merritt. He served in the American Volunteer Group as a wingman. He died on January 7, 1942 in a plane accident at airfield in Rangoon, Burma and is now buried in the Parkdale Cemetery, Arlington, Tarrant County, Texas, USA. Kenneth He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
