Voigt W. Miller, Jr. was born in 1921 in Indiana. He resided in Fairfield County, Connecticut prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on March 18, 1942 in Hartford, Connecticut. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Office Clerk and also as Single, without dependents. Voigt served as a Second Lieutenant and Navigator on C-87 #43-30555, 98th Transport Squadron, 28th Transport Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

Voigt was declared "Missing In Action" when his C-87 went out of control and crashed near the India and Chinese border during the war. His name is commemorated on the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines. 2Lt Miller was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
