Erwin Harry "Porky" Morrison was born on January 23, 1920 in Ohio. He was the son of Wilbur Cleo Morrison and Evelyn E. North Morrison. Ervin was inducted into the service as an aviation cadet in the Air Corps and was attached to the 491st Bomber Squadron, 341st Bomber Group. He was piloting a B-25 on a ferry flight from Mohanbari, India to Agra, India, when his plane exploded, killing all 6 crew members on board. Ervin is now buried in the Woodland Union Cemetery, Van Wert, Van Wert County, Ohio, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
