Donald R. Muntzinger was born on December 8, 1921. He served in the US Army Air Forces as a Staff Sergeant and Radio Operator / Gunner of an aircraft during World War II. Ssgt Muntzinger was killed on October 30, 1943 on a Mitchel bomber on a mission against the Japanese. He is now buried in the Redeemer Lutheran Cemetery, Convoy, Van Wert County, Ohio. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
