James E. Nunn was born on April 2, 1921 in Colorado City, Mitchell County, Texas. He was the son of James Petty Nunn and Emory Dulin Nunn. James served in the 51st Fighter Group as a First Lieutenant and pilota of an aircraft during World War II. He died on November 9, 1944 at the age of 23 and is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA. He also has a cenotaph located in Colorado City Cemetery, Colorado City, Mitchell County, Texas. 1Lt Nunn was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
