Cloyce D. Pierce was born on March 10, 1921 in Itawamba County, Mississippi. He was the son of William Trannie Pierce and Pearlie Stone Pierce. He served in the 1330th Army Air Force Base Unit as a Private First Class and Crew Chief of an aircraft during World War II. He went missing on August 6, 1945 and was officially declared dead on August 7, 1946. His name is commemorated on the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines. PFC Pierce was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is also commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
