Harry Burdette Pinneo was born on October 20, 1919. He was the son of Harry Burdette Pinneo and Mary Lucretia Swain Paxton. In 1941, he enlisted in the Royal Air Force where he served for a year before entering the American Air Forces. He served as a Flight Officer and Pilot of an aircraft during World War II. He was Killed in Action on May 29, 1945 at the age of 25 in India and is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA. Flight Officer Pinneo was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
