Frank J. Popiolek entered the military service in New York. He served in the 77th Squadron, 22nd Ferry Group as a Private and Crew Chief of an aircraft during World War II. He was declared "Missing in Action" on January 8, 1946 and is commemorated on the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines. Pvt Popiolek was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945.
