Blaine F. Raab was born on August 15, 1921 in Pekin, Tazewell County, Illinois. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Raab of Pekin. SSgt. Raab entered the Air Corps in East St. Louis, Illinois on August 20, 1942, and was trained of B-24s and C-47s as a Crew Chief. He was killed in the line of duty on July 1, 1945 in India while serving with Squadron C of the 1330th Army Air Forces during the India-China Division. Ssgt Raab is now buried in the Lakeside Cemetery, Pekin, Tazewell County, Illinois, USA.

He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
