Rowan Nelson Reinertson was born on December 15, 1922 in Canby, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota. He was the son of Thomas Reinertson and Amy Arline Beiningen Narvestad. Rowan served in the US Air Corps as a Corporal and Crew Chief of an aircraft during World War II. He died on May 12, 1945 at the age of 22 in Assam, India and is now buried in the Canby City Cemetery, Canby, Yellow Medicine County, Minnesota, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
