John W. Rhodes, Jr. was born on December 21, 1924. He was the son of John W. Rhodes and Elsie C. Rhodes. John served in the US Air Corps as a Corporal during World War II. He died on January 10, 1945 at the age of 20 and is now buried in the Maplewood Cemetery, Durham, Durham County, North Carolina, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945.
