Robert Byron Richards was born on August 20, 1921 in Ogden, Weber County, Utah. He was the son of John Harold Richards and Doris Elizabeth Chase Richards. Robert served in the US Air Corps as a First Lieutenant and Pilot of an aircraft during World War II. He died on June 26, 1944 at the age of 22 in India and is now buried in the Ogden City Cemetery, Ogden, Weber County, Utah, USA. 1Lt Richards was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
