Herman F. Ridenour was born in 1924. He served in the US Air Corps as a First Lieutenant and Pilot of an aircraft during World War II. 1Lt Ridenour was killed in the crash of Plane No. 247, 373rd Squadron, about 10 minutes out of Yangkai." He stayed at the controls while the crew bailed out. He is now buried in the Washington Park East Cemetery, Indianapolis, Marion County, Indiana, USA. 1Lt Ridenour was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
