James Maxwell Rosno was born on March 8, 1921 in Ewing Township, Holt County, Nebraska. He was the son of Joseph Leo Rosno and Rosalie Evelyn Miller Rosno. He served in the US Air Corps as a Private and Radio Operator of an aircraft during World War II. Pvt Rosno died on March 17, 1945 at the age of 24 in India and is now buried in the Fort Leavenworth National Cemetery, Fort Leavenworth, Leavenworth County, Kansas, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
