Ernest Everett Roush was born on January 30, 1919 in Gallia County, Ohio. He was the son of Everett Martin Roush and Amy F. Herrmann Roush. He was the assistant crew chief on C-87 #41-11907, assigned to the 22nd Transport Group 77th Transport Squadron. They took off from Jorhat India carrying cargo to Kunming China. The plane never arrived and the crew was never seen again. His name is commemorated on the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines. He also has a cenotaph located in Olney Cemetery, Pendleton, Umatilla County, Oregon.
Sgt Roush was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
