Robert Lee Rucker was born on November 28, 1918. He was the son of Anthony John Rucker and Louise M Enser Rucker. He served in the 9th Combat Cargo Squadron, 3rd Combat Cargo Group as a First Lieutenant and Co-Pilot of an aircraft during World War II. He was Killed in Action on March 20, 1945 at the age of 26 while fying the "hump" in Burma-India and is now buried in the Saint John's Cemetery, Boston, Erie County, New York, USA. 2Lt Rucker was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
