Ross O. Russel served in the US Air Corps as a Second Lieutenant and Co-Pilot of an aircraft during World War II. He died on April 22, 1945 and is now buried in the Fort McPherson National Cemetery, Maxwell, Lincoln County, Nebraska, USA in a common grave with other men. 2Lt Russel was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945.
