Henry B. Sattig was born in 1917 in Connecticut. He resided in New Haven County, Connecticut prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army on February 6, 1941, prior to the war, in Hartford, Connecticut. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a filer, grinder, buffer, and polisher of metals and also as Single, without dependents. Henry served as a First Lieutenant, India-China Wing, Air Transport Command, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

1Lt Sattig went missing on March 27, 1944 and was officially declared dead on January 19, 1946. His name is commemorated on the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines. 1Lt Sattig was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is also commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
