James Lee “Jimmy” Schleicher was born on February 18, 1921 in Tennessee. He was the son of Edward Watson Schleicher and Mary Florence Bosch Schleicher. He was the aircraft Commander of the U.S. Army Air Corps B-29-10-BW Superfortress #42-6323, nicknamed "Eileen." He perished when the bomber (converted to a tanker) crashed and burned in India. 11 crew was Killed in Action. CPT Schleicher is now buried in the Nashville National Cemetery, Madison, Davidson County, Tennessee, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
