Donald J. Sellhorst was born in 1923 in Nebraska. He served in the 375th Bomber Squadron, 308th Bomber Group, Heavy as a Staff Sergeant and an Engineer of an aircraft during World War II. He was the Flight Engineer of B-24J #42-73305 'Rose of Juarez', which crashed at the end of the runway at Chengkung, Yunnan, China upon takeoff on a bombing mission 13 July 1944. Ssgt Sellhorst is now buried in the Saint Mary Cemetery, Saint Bernard, Hamilton County, Ohio, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
