Warren Max Slaughter was born on October 29, 1920. He entered the military service in Ohio and served in the 25th Fighter Squadron, 51st Fighter Group as a First Lieutenant during World War II. He was declared "Missing in Action" on April 8, 1944 and is commemorated on the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines. He also has a cenotaph located in Ferncliff Cemetery, Springfield, Clark County, Ohio and Fairfield Cemetery, Fairborn, Greene County, Ohio. 1Lt Slaughter was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is also commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
