Harold Thomas Sloan was born on October 22, 1921 in Franklin County, North Carolina. He was the son of Harold Thomas Sloan and Nanelyn Kinnebrew Sloan. He served in the US Air Corps as a Corporal and Radio Operator of an aircraft during World War II. He died on October 29, 1944 at the age of 23 and is now buried in the Raleigh National Cemetery, Raleigh, Wake County, North Carolina, USA. Corporal Sloan was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
