Victor Smith was born on August 9, 1920 in Blackfoot, Bingham County, Idaho. He was the son of George Henry Smith and Christie Isabell Sharp Smith. He served in the US Air Corps as a First Lieutenant and a bomber Pilot during World War II. He was Killed in Action on October 30, 1943 over Chittagong Hills, India and is now buried in the Lehi City Cemetery, Lehi, Utah County, Utah, USA.

1Lt Smith was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
