Homer A. Spahlinger was born in 1922. He was the son of Austin Edward Spahlinger and Abbie Weed Spahlinger. He served in the 443rd Troop Carrier Group as a Second Lieutenant and Co-Pilot of an aircraft during World War II. He died on July 11, 1945 in India and is now buried in the Braceville Center Cemetery, Newton Falls, Trumbull County, Ohio, USA. 2Lt Spahlinger was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
