Bronislaw John “Bones” Stepczyk was born on June 4, 1917 in Chicopee, Hampden County, Massachusetts. He was the son of John Stepczyk and Mary Pudlo Stepczyk. Bronislaw served in the 443rd Troop Carrier Group as a First Lieutenant and Co-Pilot of an aircraft during World War II. He died on July 14, 1945 at the age of 28 in Sagaing Region, Myanmar and is now buried in the Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Arlington County, Virginia, USA. 1Lt Stepczyk was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China and ranked as a Second Lieutenant.
