Florian Sticka was born on April 16, 1921 in New England, Hettinger County, North Dakota. He served in the US Air Corps as a Corporal and Radio Operator of an aircraft during World War II. He died on November 24, 1943 at the age of 22 in China and is now buried in the Saint Mary's Catholic Cemetery, New England, Hettinger County, North Dakota, USA. Corporal Sticka was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
