Marvin M. Stockett was born on November 19, 1918 in Texas. He served in the 45th Bomber Squadron, 40th Bomber Group, Very Heavy as a Captain and Pilot of an aircraft during World War II. Captain Stockett was the Aircraft Commander pilot of U.S. Army Air Corps B-29 Superfortress #42-6261, nicknamed "Stockett's Rocket." He was one of twelve airmen who lost when their bomber disappeared on a mission to Japan, over the "Hump" (China-India border region). His name is commemorated on the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.

CPT Stockett was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is also commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
