Clarence E. Swenson served in the 677th Bombardment Squadron, 444th Bombardment Group as a Staff Sergeant during World War II. He was aboard B-29 Superfortress #42-6228, when it crashed and burned in Assam, India, while on mission to China. Eleven other crew members also killed. He is now buried in the Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, Lemay, St. Louis County, Missouri, USA. Ssgt Swenson was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
