Stanley A. Szczepanik was born on July 13, 1918. He resided in Erie County, New York prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army on February 14, 1942 at Fort Niagara, Youngstown, New York. He was noted as being employed in laundering and also as Single, without dependents. Stanley served as a 2nd Lt., 11th Bomber Squadron, 341st Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II. He was "Killed In Action" during the war and is now buried in the Saint Stanislaus Roman Catholic Cemetery, Cheektowaga, Erie County, New York, USA. 2Lt was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China but his surname is inscribed as Szezopanik.
