Gordon H. Tucker entered the military service in Wisconsin. He resided in Columbia County, Wisconsin prior to the war. Gordon served as a First Lieutenant and Co-Pilot on C-109 #44-48999, 1347th Army Air Force Base Unit, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.
C-109 #44-48999 took off, with a crew of 4, from Shamshernagar Airport, Bangladesh on a cargo mission to India. They were last contacted by radio and reported being over Tulihal, India. They were not seen nor heard from again. The entire crew was lost on July 30, 1945. Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, he was not officially declared by the military as being dead until August 1, 1946. His name is commemorated on the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945.

Note:
1Lt Tucker is not actually inscribed on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China. We suspect that he must be the guy for 2Lt Goyled H. Tucker who is inscribed on the monument, which we think is a mis-inscription.
