Richard G. Warren was born in 1919 in New Jersey. He resided in Mercer County, New Jersey prior to the war. He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on January 14, 1942 Trenton, New Jersey. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Manager and also as Single, without dependents. Richard served as a Second Lieutenant and Bombardier on B-24J "Temptation" #41-24129, 373rd Bomber Squadron, 308th Bomber Group, Heavy, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

B-24J #41-24129 took off, with a crew of 10 and 4 other B-24's, from Yangkai Airfield, China on a bombing mission over Hai Phong, French Indochina (Vietnam). The B-24's were intercepted and attacked by approximately 50 Japanese Zeros. B-24J #41-24129 engines were damaged in this attack and the crew bailed out. While parachuting down many of them were strafed and killed by the Zeros on September 15, 1943. Having actually gone "Missing" on the above date, he was not officially declared by the military as being dead until January 12, 1946. His name is commemorated on the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.

1Lt Warren was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is also commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
