Loren B. Wiedman was born on November 4, 1921 in Taft, Kern County, California. He served in the US Air Corps as a First Lieutenant and Pilot of an aircraft during World War II. He was Killed in Action on October 16, 1944 in the China-Burma-India area while flying a transport plane over "The Hump". He is now buried in the . He also has a cenotaph located in Good Shepherd Cemetery, Huntington Beach, Orange County, California, USA.

1Lt Wiedman was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China but his surname is inscribed as Weidman.
