Edward Burlow Wimmer was born on June 21, 1915 in Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah. He was graduated from South high school following which he served an LDS mission to Germany. He enlisted in the Air Forces in 1942 and for two years served as instructor at Garden City, Kan. He left for overseas duty in January, 1945. He was Killed in Action on July 6, 1945 at the age of 30 over China and is now buried in the Salt Lake City Cemetery, Salt Lake City, Salt Lake County, Utah, USA.

2Lt Wimmer was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
