Delbert E. Winch was born on June 20, 1924. He served in the 678th Bombardment Squadron as a Corporal and Gunner of an aircraft during World War II. He was killed when U.S. Army Air Corps B-29-5-BW Superfortress #42-6262 "Round Trip Ticket" was shot down by enemy fighter over Mukden, Manchuria. Ten other airmen also perished. Sgt Winch is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA. He was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
