John J. Wrobel was born on December 13, 1916 in Minnesota. He was the son of Jacob Wrobel and Josephine C. Sulars Wrobel. He served in the 1330th Army Air Force Base Unit as a Private First Class and Radio Operator of an aircraft during World War II. He was Killed in Action on October 15, 1944 at the age of 27 and is now buried in the Fort Snelling National Cemetery, Minneapolis, Hennepin County, Minnesota, USA.

PFC Wrobel was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
