Elmer E. Zobb was born on July 5, 1920. He entered the service in July 1942 and went overseas in November 1943. He was a member of a ground crew in the US Army Air Forces and was being transferred from one post to another when the plane he was in was shot down. He is now buried in the US Soldiers' and Airmen's Home National Cemetery, Washington, District of Columbia, District of Columbia, USA.

CPL Zobb was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
