Lyndal Elmo Daniel was born on April 14, 1916 in Green Castle, Sullivan County, Missouri. He resided in Sullivan County, Missouri prior to the war. Lyndal served as a Sergeant and Asst. Crew Chief on C-87 #41-23669, 3rd Squadron, 1st Ferry Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

C-87 #41-23669 took off, with a crew of 6, from Yangkai, China on a cargo mission to Chabua, India. After take off this C-87 was not heard from or seen again and the entire crew went missing. His name is commemorated on the Walls of the Missing, Manila American Cemetery, Taguig City, Philippines.

Sgt Daniel was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is also commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
