Raymond A. Fickel was born on March 22, 1915 in Cleveland, Cuyahoga County, Ohio. He was a member of the U.S. Army Air Corp, 341st Bomb Group, 22nd Bomb Squadron in the China-Burma-India theatre during World War II. He was Killed in Action on March 10, 1945 when their plane crashed and burned in the vicinity of Tuhsien, China. Raymond is now buried in the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific, Honolulu, Honolulu County, Hawaii, USA. 1Lt Fickel was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China.
