: Flight Officer Joseph Prebil was born in Minnesota on December 21, 1921. He was killed on October 19, 1944 when his B-26, (42-107565) “Roger the Dodger”, Tail # 88 was shot down by enemy fighters near the town of Redondesco, Italy. Rodger the Dodger was part of a mission to bomb rail bridges near Mantova (Mantua), Italy. Per MACR 9039, immediately after the bombing run, the plan was shot down by enemy fighters. Four crew members were killed in the crash; one survived. The crew included: The Roger the Dodger Crew who died during the crash: Pilot: 1LT Donald Treadwell Jr. Bombardier: Flight Officer Joseph V. Prebill Eng Gunner: S/SGT William M. Robinson Gunner: T/SGT Walter G. Flynn Survived: Co-Pilot 2LT James W. Tarbutton parachuted out and spent the rest of the war as a POW.
