James L. Hedrick was born on June 12, 1923. He served in the US Air Corps as a Private First Class and an Assistant Engineer of an aircraft during World War II during World War II. He died on August 11, 1945 in Kunming, China at the age of 22 and is now buried in the Ozan Cemetery, Bingen, Hempstead County, Arkansas, USA. PFC Headrick was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China. He is alo listed in a war memorial in front of Pike County Courthouse in Murfreesboro.
