John Marion Hubers was born on March 1, 1917 in Hull, Sioux County, Iowa. He was the son of Henry J. Hubers and Mary De Groot Hubers. He served in the US Air Corps as a Lieutenant Colonel during World War II. He died on October 6, 1945 at the age of 28 and is now buried in the West Lawn Cemetery, Orange City, Sioux County, Iowa, USA. LTC Hubers was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China but death date is inscribed as 1945-06-10.
