Jow Y. Lai was born on August 12, 1920. He served in the US Air Corps as a Corporal during World War II. He died on August 2, 1945 at the age of 24 and is now buried in the Golden Gate National Cemetery, San Bruno, San Mateo County, California, USA. Cpl Lai was one of over 2000 Americans who lost their lives defending China from their Japanese invaders from 1941-1945. He is commemorated on the The Monument to the Aviation Martyrs in the War of Resistance Against Japan in Nanjing, China but his name is inscribed as Jon.
